Argentaria Faustilla, daughter of Gaius. As for the second time an eighth year of age had begun to run for me, I was snatched away from my husband’s embrace – and now here I lie. For those who cared for me, bound by laws human and divine, I have, as a consolation for my death, this (sc. monument) to show as what I received as a reward for my life. Nigella, my mother herself, has paid me the honour that is this very monument, for me in my death as well as for her own worries. |
