Find Context | Found during the excavation on the site of the Old Market Hall (SJ 403 663). This is on the west side of Northgate Street, where another Greek dedication by a doctor had already been found (RIB 461). Early in the fourth century the altar, already damaged, was placed against the north wall of the south range of a large courtyard building immediately north of the headquarters building (principia), thought to be the legate’s house (praetorium).
