Main Translation
| Translation | To the Spirits of the Departed. Stop your walking, passer-by, turn your soul to my grave and read how cruel was the life that I was given. I withered before the eyes of my dear husband Florens and died a horrible death at the age of fourteen. So the fates decided that I should never get to be pious to my father nor to my mother (...) instead of this gesture of pity I have satisfied the proud destiny with tears. I was called ..., who was never unhappy until the day chosen by the evil fate for me to be too pleasing for my husband, when I died from the cruel bed after an attack of illness. And I ask you, my companion, to be sorry that my virginity, which was about to become beautiful, now lies buried by the sleep of death, and may this (viz. the sleep of death) cover your ashes with golden soil. And to you, my parents, I now remind you: no one can break the law of destiny. |
