Main Translation

Translation Hilarus, slave of Syriacus, imperial freedman and registrar.

Phoebus, I beg you, accept these Tyrintian gifts for my protection. I offered you these gifts, weapons of a strong man, as my possibilites allowed me. He tamed the world and you, Phoebus, bestowed peace upon it. May both these things be of good omen to my vows.

Further Information

Comment

Dating proposed by Maionica. Rostovtzeff proposes a dating to the 1st century AD based on palaeography, identifying Nero instead of Commodus as the patron of the registrar Syriacus.
