Iovinus

Felix militiae sumpsit devota Iovinus cingula virtutum culmen provectus in altum bisque datus meritis equitum peditumque magister extulit aeternum saeculorum in saecula nomen. Sed pietate gravi tanta haec praeconia vicit insignesque triumphos relligione dicavit ut quem fama dabat rebus superaret honorem et vitam factis posset sperare perennem. conscius hic sancto manantis fonte salutis sedem vivacem moribundis ponere membris corporis hospitium laetus metator adornat reddendos vitae salvari providet artus. omnipotens Christus iudex venerabilis atque terribilis pie longanimis spes fida precantum, nobilis, eximios famulis non imputat actus. Plus iusto fidei ac pietatis praemia vincant.

Iovinus joyfully committed himself to the military life and, having reached the high peak of the virtues and twice been appointed due to his merits as head of the cavalry and the infantry, he raised his everlasting name forever and ever. But he surpassed such great accolades with deep piety and consecrated his illustrious triumphs with devotion, so that he surpassed with deeds the glory which fame had bestowed upon him and could hope for everlasting life as a result of his actions. Conscious of establishing in this sacred fountain from which salvation flows a lasting site for his members destined to die; he, glad planner of the endeavour, embellishes the place that will accommodate his body and sees to it that his limbs, which are to be brought back to life, are saved. Christ Almighty, venerable judge and worthy of respect, piously magnanimous, firm hope of those who turn to him with prayers, noble, does not take into account extraordinary deeds from his servants. May the rewards of faith and piety prevail more for the just.

Jovino tomó dichoso el devoto cíngulo de la milicia y, avanzando hasta la alta cima de las virtudes y por dos veces nombrado gracias a sus méritos jefe de caballería e infantería, elevó su nombre imperecedero por los siglos de los siglos. Pero sobrepasó tan grandes alabanzas con profunda piedad y consagró sus insignes triunfos a la religión, de manera que superase con hechos la gloria que la fama le había concedido y pudiera esperar la vida eterna con sus acciones. Consciente de establecer en esta sagrada fuente de la que mana la salvación una sede duradera para sus miembros destinados a morir, satisfecho por haberlo planeado, embellece el lugar que acogerá su cuerpo y cuida que sus miembros, que han de ser devueltos a la vida, se salven. Cristo Todopoderoso, juez venerable y digno de respeto, piadosamente magnánimo, esperanza firme de los que se dirigen a él con ruegos, noble, no reclama hazañas extraordinarias a sus siervos. Que la recompensa de la fe y la piedad venza más de lo justo.
