To the gods of the Underworld and to keep alive the memory of his Hippodamia, her immensely thankful husband Apolaustus set up this pledge to her beloved after twins were born but were snatched away from their mother. Friend, you who haste on your journey, I beg you stay for a moment, step closer to read carefully of the troubles of which I speak. ... when life was still in her body ...flourishing youth ...against vows ...lamenting parent ...to the dear beloved consort ...blessed ...travelled the world ...running away ...left ...seen shores, when I am born I die, life set death in place for me, for when I gave birth it consigned me to the shadows. Hippodamia was her name when still alive. However, these are the last ... since the homeland that gave birth to me... and where life was given, there life was paid for. Born in Apte... My husband set up this monument for me, his beloved.
