Artibus ingenuis cura perdocta suorum sortita egregium corporis omne decus, nondum bis septem plenis praerepta sub annis, hic Crocale casta condita sede iacet. Ludite felices, patitur dum vita, puellae: saepe et formosae fata sinistra ferunt.

Encouraged towards the study of the liberal arts by her parents' concern, bestowed with the extraordinary beauty of her body not, snatched away when she had not yet reached twice the age of seven, in this tomb lies virtuous Crocale. Enjoy yourselves, little girls, while life allows it: even the beautiful often endure perverse fates.

Adiestrada en nobles habilidades por la expresa preocupación de los suyos y habiéndole tocado en suerte la egregia belleza de su cuerpo, arrebatada cuando todavía no había cumplido los catorce años, en este lugar yace enterrada la intachable Crócale. Alegraos, felices muchachas, mientras la vida lo permita: pues también las hermosas soportan a menudo hados siniestros.
